A new college, she never would have thought such a day would come with how long the old one had stood well before she had ever been born. It was convenient for many that went, she supposed, being in the center of the capital more or less and well away from the place she grew up. Moving had ended up being a good idea after all right after the war had ended, surprised by the split that had since happened, having thought more fighting had been to come. The question she was left with was why Adamh had relented into giving them anything when he had won fairly twice while Jacob had only managed to chase them out of the north. Maybe that was the very reason why. Did the king think he couldn’t win against them in what was now the ex prince’s land? She would think the forces here were capable and able of thwarting them a final time and taken over fully.

With the shift came new laws and even less freedom to travel, which made her surprised when Mithras still stayed at all connected to her. Divorce was an option and the greatest asset she had for him was now lapsed as she couldn’t garner trade in what was now Saora since the division forced her to become a true citizen of the shrunk Rionnach. There wasn't much reason for him to risk himself now, when the marriage deal was mostly only beneficial to her with this change. Not that she was bringing it up, instead entertaining him around the new halls as a guide of sorts.

“This will take a lot o gettin used to,” she sighed more so to herself, never having the best sense of direction if the sun and moon were nowhere to be seen in a new place. There was light streaming in, light as everything as it bounced off of snow and into the windows. There was no soft dusting of orange or red, likely meaning it was around noon.

Her head would turn toward Mithras, a big grin on her face as she observed him. “Stay close, will be easy to get lost in here. Must be double the size with a lot of decorations for you to run inta. Don’t be afraid to grab ahold of me,” she teased lightly, expecting him to have a hard time not walking into a wall or another wolf for that matter. There was a spot she had wanted to see sooner rather than later, cutting more toward the center of the manor where a courtyard was filled with flowers for the medical staff to use. She’d notice an odd mist rolling into the halls that would get thicker the more steps she took.

The fog wasn’t the only thing peculiar as she noticed nature suddenly overriding everything else within the facility to the point it seemed like no cobble existed anymore. She’d stop and turn, looking behind her to not see the college at all, inside or outside of it. “Am I high as hell right now? I don’t rememba takin anything. Did you have Kaveh slip shrooms in my tea? Cause we sure ain’t in Rionna anymore or at least I’m not,” she laughed while looking around confused as everything and feeling less than sober in the moment as she tried to make heads or tails of reality.

Everything as of late had only become more difficult. Access to the highlands all but cut off lest one was willing to hop the border and risk facing the wraith of another land’s enforcers, perhaps it could be remedied in time. Grant limited access of trade, to apprehend criminals who attempted to flee jurisdiction - something that didn’t used to be a problem - but with a false kind now holding the crown it had become one. Just as the very woman who pranced along as his side may also prove to be one.

Mystery still shrouded aspects of her being, of how she chose to live; however, now that she had willfully chosen to dwell beneath the same roof much of the unknown would surely be unraveled. She could still become a worthwhile asset - an attachment still beneficial - or she could be an even bigger pain in the ass, an aggravation that could not be escaped from… for now he would hold hope for the prior. Her status as a highlander could still potentially be used to gain permission to tread within those lands despite the laws now place.

Though all still remained to be seen, for now all he could do was tolerate the acts she committed. Keep less than legal wares under close check so that no other needed to worry themselves over inspection of such things, so long as substance was confined to those proclaimed elixirs rather than the purity of the plant itself there could be wiggle room so to speak. He would not have to issue an arrest upon the very woman who held his name. Even the thought of it brought a light sigh to flee his lips as focus was beckoned outward, senses flooded by rising scents and the symphonies which echoed from the college grounds.

Already it seemed bigger than what once lay housed in the meadows embrace but with it came uncertainty. It was unfamiliar terrain, one he no longer held the layout too as steps threatened to grow hesitant for there was little eagerness to relearn the campus when so many could behold fault. Witness the star flecked man’s short comings when it came to matters of sight - a fact he was certain so many were already aware of and yet there lingered desire to hold on to perceived dignity. He could not go crashing into things like some drunken fool. He wasn’t looking forward to this.

Sentiment Bellatrix seemingly shared upon that soft utterance, only for volume to rise with phrases that turned back his ears. For the most part his expression remained unchanged - it did not sour, nothing more than a light upturn at the corner of his lips - for the public did not need to know his true feelings over this. However, those teasing tones still drew a gentle huff from his lungs. Lyrics kept steady, “Don’t be ridiculous. I won’t need to cling to you like some lost babe in the woods.” The irony of such a statement lost on him when not long ago she had scooped him from the depths of the forest itself. Mithras was more focused upon the lies which twisted free.

This was a building he had never traversed before these moments but he also did not wish to be guided by the paw down each hall, foretold of ever passed corridor with a passing brush. It would be better to come here after hours when no other could witness a perceived weakness nor distract from the way fingers would map out each stone as if committing it to memory. From when he counted the steps required when it came to areas one knew would be of more use, those that would be frequented; but all that would have to wait. For now, however, he would take advantage of the one benefit provided from the presence of many.

Each rising voice was an echo, a reverberation that required no sight to behold as notes bounced off the walls and helped to steer his steps. Yet there is one in particular he attempts to keep pace with as her phrases fill his ears alongside the quickening clack of talons against cobbles - until that too seemed to fade into a faint clink upon coated stone and the light crunch of grass. How curious. Last he had known it should have been the delicate crackle of snow that fell beneath one’s paws but this was not the only peculiarity.

An exotic perfume swiftly filled the senses as an unusual warmth for these winter months seemed to brush against skin, what a bizarre thing to waft through the college. While he was never one to turn away the heat of nature’s embrace… this didn’t seem natural. That lingering notion swiftly confirmed - or at least begging further question - as Bellatrix spoke, clearly just as confused as he was with this addition. “What are you talking about? Of course we’re still in Rionna,” where the hell else would they be? It wasn’t as if they could travel through the fabrics of time itself and reappear in an instnat to distance lands. Such a thing was unheard of.

“And if either Kaveh or myself wished to drug you it wouldn’t be with mushrooms,” that would be far too obvious with pieces of it within the drink itself. No, something dissolvable, able to blend into the liquid itself would be a far better option and yet he held no reason to spike her drinks. If anything he expected his own to be laced which, as of yet, had not happened within her presence. Though even still the creeping sensation brought on by the aromas now swimming in his head put the judge on edge. Paces gradually slowing though he did not come to a complete stop until the gentle caress of heated waters lapped at his paws.

Why was there water here? And more importantly why did the school of all places need a hot spring in its courtyard? Very strange choices indeed and yet he still sought rationalization, hoping to deny the woman’s claims of ‘not being in Rionna’ for where else could they be? “Is the garden flooded? Or did some fool truly think this to be a necessary addition?” Lilac stare held upon where he’d last heard the other as he spoke before eventually he would turn back to the unseen fog drifting about the area.

Any complaints he might have sputtered along the halls would go unnoticed as her head had drifted away from him with focus on her objective, when that objective failed though, her attention would skim right back over to the man of the hour. The reason she even came here today to help him around this rather enchanted campus, she was more than certain wasn’t actually here. She would smack herself in the face with paw to try to take her head out of this fantasy land since she had never seen anything like this in her life. She might not be as versed as others in Rionna geography, but she didn’t need to in order to know this wouldn’t be in the center of the city like this. Something was up and she really didn’t know what during this sudden change.

“It don’ even smell like Rio…smells like Fae Forest which makes even less sense no matta how ya slice it. Trust me, this isn’t…” she stopped speaking as he started to speak again, gaining a slight glare from her at the prospect of him having plans on how to poison her. “You know, ya don’t have to be a dick all the time cause I doubt that was meanta be a joke, coming from you,” she murmured with an eye roll, wondering how truthful he was on that exactly. Did he actually want her dead? He claimed he didn’t before but who says that hadn’t changed any since she started living with her. At least before he didn’t have to deal with her all the time, now they had the luxury of always being in one another’s faces. He might be growing to despise her even faster now, if that was even possible, she felt like it wasn’t.

She was a second away from asking what exactly he would have in store for her if he chose to kill her, if he thought about it so much but she was starting to feel groggier the longer she stayed in this odd mist. It was like taking a muscle relaxer, seeping away her normal worries and tribulations. Lethargic was the best way she could describe and though she could think of drugs that could make her this way, she doubted either had consumed any. Her tail thrashed with anticipation for something to possibly attack them, wondering what was really going on, so much so she stopped thinking about Mithras’ snark any further.

It wasn’t until he moved out of the corner of her eye and started to vanish in the mist so much easier than herself from his ghostly blues, that her thought snapped away from how and focused on her infuriating little man. The effects seemed to only deepen as she chased after him, drifting completely off the beaten path she had thought they were on but now she couldn’t even tell where it might have been. She’d jump into the water without hesitation, rushing over to him and cutting him off with her body “Mithras hold up! The college has disappeared and this water…” she trailed off, staring away from him toward the expanse of mist and still water that seemed crystal clear. She worried it was deceiving with how shallow it looked and she didn’t want him drowning.

“It reminds me of stories from home: a lagoon I had always just seemed fantasy as a lass or a dream someone had. Either way, I don’t need you dyin on me. Then again maybe your lack of sight is more reliable,” she raised a brow, turning her head toward him, ears flattening as she saw him turning his head back toward where they had come.
